JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – A news story published on News4Jax.com reports that the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision on Southside Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers discovered the body of a pedestrian who had been tragically struck by a motor vehicle. The victim was found Monday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers reported that the deadly collision occurred during the early morning hours along Southside Boulevard close to Perimeter Park Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, a motor vehicle was moving in the far right traffic lane of Southside Boulevard. At some point, the vehicle left the roadway and onto the right shoulder of the road. The vehicle then struck the pedestrian, who was walking on the side of the road. The victim was described as a 33-year-old man.

Florida Highway Patrol reported that the motor vehicle involved in the collision was a 2001 to 2005 Honda Civic. The car is missing its right side mirror, has right-front and right headlight damage. Law enforcement stated that the hit-and-run vehicle will also have damage to the right side and front, consistent with a crash into a person

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information about the crash to call Crime Stoppers. The fatal pedestrian collision is currently under investigation.
